On a beautiful, cold December Saturday at King’s Chapel in Arrington Tennessee, Karl and Upa were married. As close friends and family gathered, I couldn’t help but cherish the warmth found in their love. Karl, a military man, was oddly aware of what their future held: long stints of time spent apart. Yet, even with this sad reality, there was a peace he found in their love. I know that he would resonate with these words from Wendell Berry:

“Love is what carries you, for it is always there, even in the dark, or most in the dark, but shining out at times like gold stitches in a piece of embroidery.”
